So, What Happened?
Apple just hosted their WWDC 2023, which begins every year with key announcements. The big ones of note are the Vision Pro, 15” MacBook Air, and the Mac Studio. In this article we look at what these products are all about and how they could help your business.
Vision Pro AR Headset

To kick things off, perhaps the headliner of the conference was the announcement of the all new Vision Pro, augmented reality (AR) headset. Unlike VR (virtual reality), where users are immersed in a completely digitized environment, the Vision Pro’s AR technology combines the users real-world surroundings with 3D, digital elements, that one might find on a computer interface.
This opens up a world of possibilities, both for personal entertainment, but more importantly for working environments. Designers will uncover groundbreakings ways of creating through the use of gestures such as eyes, hands, and face movements. Teams will boost productivity through easier forms of communication, with facetime incorporation sure to pave way for more video conferencing integrations to be added.
“Today marks the beginning of a new era for computing. Just as the Mac introduced us to personal computing, and iPhone introduced us to mobile computing, Apple Vision Pro introduces us to spatial computing. Built upon decades of Apple innovation, Vision Pro is years ahead and unlike anything created before — with a revolutionary new input system and thousands of groundbreaking innovations. It unlocks incredible experiences for our users and exciting new opportunities for our developers.” – Tim Cook, CEO of Apple.
15" MacBook Air

The next big release announcement was the new 15” MacBook Air – Apple’s largest consumer laptop to date. The obvious key feature is the large, 15.3” Liquid Retina display, but other important specs of note are the long lasting battery life of 18 hours, and the six-speaker sound system which can output immersive, spatial audio. On top of this, the product boasts a silent, fanless design, to further improve the user experience.
“The new MacBook Air is the world’s best 15-inch laptop. And it’s only possible with Apple silicon.” – John Ternus, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple.
Mac Studio

More announcements include the new Mac Studio and Mac Pro, which are dubbed the most powerful Macs so far. They include the all new M2 Ultra and M2 Max Silicon chips, which make a huge difference in performance and enhanced connectivity – all in a beautifully compact design.
Built for designers, the Mac Studio enables professionals to imagine their dream studio and workplace environment. It has also been built with environmental cautions in mind. It includes 100% recycled rare earth elements in all its magnets as well as 100% recycled gold plating and tin soldering in multiple circuit boards.
“Mac Studio has been a breakthrough for pros everywhere, and it’s at the heart of hundreds of thousands of home and pro studios across the world. It gets even better with M2 Max and the new M2 Ultra, featuring even more performance and enhanced connectivity.” – John Ternus, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple.
